Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the upcoming Mumbai Tech Week (MTW) 2026, highlighting the state’s ambition to position Mumbai as a hub of artificial intelligence (AI) driven innovation and enterprise growth. The two-day event, scheduled for May 29-30 at the Jio World Convention Centre, is expected to attract over 10,000 developers, founders, investors, and technology professionals.
Organized by the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM) in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, MTW 2026 will focus on practical AI deployments across industries. The summit will feature participation from global tech giants such as OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic, Google Cloud, and Neysa, underscoring India’s expanding AI ecosystem.
Fadnavis emphasized the significance of AI in accelerating industries and economies during his announcement. “Mumbai already serves as India’s financial and commercial capital,” he said, “and we believe it can also become a leading centre for AI-driven innovation and enterprise growth.”
Harsh Jain, co-chair and governing council member at TEAM, explained that the event aims to move beyond theoretical discussions on AI to focus on practical economic outcomes. He stated, “MTW 2026 is designed to demonstrate how AI is reshaping industries and creating economic opportunity, which is why Mumbai is the perfect home for it.”
Apart from enterprise AI showcases, the summit will include an AI-powered job fair involving over 25 companies. Organizers expect this initiative to offer more than 250 job opportunities and attract a talent pool of over 30,000 candidates, reflecting the growing demand for AI-skilled professionals.
The event will also host the AI Excellence Awards 2026, an Early-Stage Startup Showcase, masterclasses, and “Stories Unplugged” sessions featuring founders and technology leaders. Leading up to the summit, 14 satellite events are planned across Mumbai to deepen engagement among startups, investors, and developers.
The participation of major tech companies such as OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic, and Google Cloud signals India’s increasing importance in the global AI race. These firms are expanding investments in cloud infrastructure, enterprise AI tools, and developer ecosystems, positioning India as a key player in this technological landscape.
TEAM, a non-profit industry body representing Mumbai’s technology ecosystem, includes founders and executives from companies such as Dream Sports, upGrad, GOQii, LoveLocal, and Quantiphi. With states competing to attract technology investments and digital talent, MTW 2026 is expected to become a key platform for Maharashtra to showcase its AI ambitions and strengthen Mumbai’s position in India’s fast-growing innovation economy.
