Apple has sued OpenAI, alleging that two former employees stole trade secrets and confidential information, including details about unreleased hardware products and technical specifications. The lawsuit, filed Friday, targets both the AI startup and io Products, a hardware design firm co-founded by Apple’s former design boss Jony Ive. According to Apple’s 41-page complaint, OpenAI has been systematically misappropriating its trade secrets.

In a statement to Fortune, OpenAI defended itself, saying, “We have no interest in other companies’ trade secrets. We remain focused on building innovative technology that empowers people everywhere.” The lawsuit marks a dramatic shift after Apple and OpenAI had previously collaborated to integrate ChatGPT into Apple’s software platforms and Siri.

Meanwhile, SK Hynix is experiencing market volatility as its shares rose 13% in their Nasdaq debut but fell more than 12% on Monday. This fluctuation stems from concerns about a potential oversupply in the memory industry, driven by massive investments in new chip plants by both SK Hynix and Samsung. SK Group’s chairman hinted at considering a second U.S. production facility, adding to market uncertainty.

In Cheyenne, Wyoming, Meta’s data center construction has been linked to the contamination of the town’s recycled water system. The bacterium Cupriavidus gilardii was discovered during routine testing and prompted the temporary suspension of the city’s reclaimed water irrigation program. A spokesperson for Meta stated that the company is supporting its general contractor in resolving the issue.

Meta is also facing opposition from local residents due to environmental concerns related to data center construction, as highlighted by a recent Gallup poll showing 70% of Americans oppose such projects near their homes.

Other tech news includes the planned release of new Apple Pencils alongside an iPad Pro refresh next year, and the launch of a general-purpose AI agent by Cursor, a SpaceX-owned company, to compete with Anthropic’s Claude.

Phia, the shopping app co-founded by Phoebe Gates, reportedly claimed credit for sales it didn’t generate. TSMC is set to build two advanced chip packaging plants in southern Taiwan, and James Murdoch may have made $7.5 billion from his pre-IPO investment in SpaceX. OpenAI’s latest AI model is likely to share similar vulnerabilities to the one that led to U.S. export controls on Anthropic’s Fable.
